Standing With Nepal: Supporting Families After the 2026 Flash Floods

In memory of those who lost their lives, and in solidarity with every family searching, grieving and rebuilding.

Nepal is living through one of its most painful natural disasters in recent years. The catastrophic flash floods that struck the Himalayan border region on 26 August 2026 sent enormous volumes of water, mud and rock through communities along the Trishuli River valley, destroying homes, roads and livelihoods and taking more than a thousand lives.

Behind every number is a person — a parent, a child, a brother, a sister, a friend. Thousands of families are carrying uncertainty and loss, while rescue workers, volunteers and local communities continue to work through extremely difficult conditions.

A disaster that also reminds us of a changing climate

Investigations indicate that the disaster was triggered by a major collapse of glacier ice and rock in the Himalayas. Scientists have also been warning that a warming climate is increasing instability across high-mountain environments and making communities in the Himalayan region more vulnerable to destructive floods, landslides and other cascading disasters.

Nepal contributes very little to global greenhouse-gas emissions, yet its mountains, rivers and communities are among those facing some of the most serious consequences of a warming world. This tragedy is therefore not only a moment of mourning. It is another reminder of how urgently vulnerable communities need climate resilience, preparedness and support.

When our people need help, even a small contribution matters

For Panna Fancy Store and Behuli Nepal, the news was deeply personal. Nepal is not simply where we operate. It is our home, our community and a part of who we are.

In response to the immediate needs of affected families, our Nepal team contributed more than 60 pieces of clothing together with financial assistance for flood victims. The clothes were prepared from our store so they could be passed on to people who had suddenly lost access to everyday necessities.

We are sharing this here not as an advertisement and not for recognition. A contribution like ours is small compared with the scale of the loss. We share it because we believe businesses are also members of their communities, and in difficult moments there is a responsibility to help in whatever practical way is possible.

More than clothing

A piece of clothing cannot rebuild a home. A cash contribution cannot replace a loved one. But during an emergency, simple things — something clean to wear, food, medicine, shelter, transport or a helping hand — can make the next day a little more manageable.

We are grateful to the volunteers, rescue personnel, health workers, community groups, neighbours and countless individuals who have stepped forward. The strength being shown across Nepal is a reminder of something Nepalis have demonstrated many times before: when hardship comes, people come together.

To the families who have lost loved ones, we offer our deepest condolences. To those still waiting for news of missing family members, we stand with you in hope. To those who have lost homes, businesses and livelihoods, we wish strength for the long recovery ahead.

There will be a time for rebuilding roads, homes and communities. There must also be a longer conversation about protecting Nepal from the growing risks posed by climate change and extreme events.

For now, our message is simple: Nepal, you are in our hearts.
