Bangle Size Guide: How to Measure for 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 & 2.10

The right bangle should pass over your knuckles without forcing, then sit securely on your wrist. For a closed bangle or chura, measure the widest part of your hand—not your wrist. If you already own a bangle that fits, measuring its inner diameter is even quicker.

First, choose the right measurement

Bangle styles go on differently, so they are not all measured in the same place.

How to measure your hand for a closed bangle

1. Bring your thumb toward your little finger. Cup your hand into the same narrow shape you use when sliding on a bangle.
2. Measure around the widest point. Wrap a flexible tape around the knuckles, including the thumb knuckle. Keep it close to the skin without pulling tight.
3. Record the circumference. Note the measurement in centimetres or millimetres.
4. Measure twice. If the readings differ, use the larger one.
5. Match it to the chart. If you sit between sizes, go up rather than forcing a rigid or glass bangle.

No flexible tape? Use a narrow strip of paper or non-stretch string. Mark where the ends meet, lay it flat and measure the length with a ruler.

How to measure a bangle that already fits

1. Place the bangle flat on a level surface.
2. Lay a ruler across the centre of the opening.
3. Measure from the inner edge on one side to the inner edge on the other. Do not include the thickness of the bangle.
4. Compare that inner diameter with the chart above.

For example, an inside measurement of about 60 mm is closest to Behuli size 2.6. A measurement of about 63.5 mm is size 2.8.

How should a bangle fit?

A well-sized closed bangle should need a gentle squeeze to pass over the knuckles, but it should never require force. Once on, it should move comfortably along the lower forearm without slipping back over the hand.

• Prefer a snug fit? Choose the closest size only when the bangle passes your knuckles comfortably.
• Prefer a relaxed fit or a stack? Choose the larger size when between sizes.
• Choosing wide or embellished bangles? They can feel tighter, so a little extra room helps.
• Buying glass bangles? Never force them. Glass does not flex and can break under pressure.

What does bangle size 2.6 mean?

Size 2.6 is a traditional South Asian bangle measurement equal to an inner diameter of 2⅜ inches, or about 60.3 mm. It has an inside circumference of approximately 19 cm.

Should I measure my hand or my wrist?

Measure your hand for closed bangles because they must pass over the knuckles. Measure your wrist for open cuffs and hinged styles because those designs open during fitting.

What if I am between two bangle sizes?

Choose the larger size. This is the safer option for rigid and glass bangles and gives more room for stacking. A slightly loose bangle is usually wearable; one that cannot pass the knuckles is not.

Can I use a bangle I already own to find my size?

Yes. Measure straight across the inside opening at its widest point. That inner diameter can be matched directly to the chart.

Do all brands use exactly the same measurements?
