Buying bangles online is much easier when you know the inside diameter that fits your hand. Rigid glass bangles, chura and metal bangles must pass over the widest part of your hand, so wrist circumference alone is not enough.
Bangle size chart: inches to mm to cm
Traditional labels such as 2.4 are not decimal inches. In common South Asian sizing, 2.4 means 2 inches plus 4/16 inch, which equals 2.25 inches.

Method 1: measure a bangle you already own
- Choose a rigid bangle that fits comfortably.
- Place it flat on a ruler.
- Measure straight across the centre from one inner edge to the other.
- Do not include the thickness of the bangle.
- Match the diameter to the chart above.
For example, an inside opening close to 57 mm is approximately size 2.4; around 60.3 mm is 2.6; and 63.5 mm is 2.8.
Method 2: measure your hand
- Bring your thumb toward your little finger as though you are putting on a bangle.
- Keep your fingers together.
- Wrap a flexible tape around the widest part of the compressed hand, including the knuckles.
- Measure twice and use the larger reading.
- If you fall between sizes, the larger rigid-bangle size is usually safer.
If you do not have a flexible tape, use non-stretch string or a strip of paper, mark where it meets, then measure that length with a ruler.
How should a bangle fit?
A closed bangle should pass over your knuckles with gentle pressure but should never need painful force. Once on, it should move comfortably along the lower forearm without sliding back off the hand. Glass bangles should never be forced because they do not flex and can break.
Does bangle width affect fit?
Yes. A wide kada, a large bridal stack or heavily embellished bangles can feel tighter than one slim bangle with the same nominal diameter. If your hand measurement sits between two sizes, allow a little extra room for larger stacks.
